Sziastok!  Hola!  Howdy!

My name is Sonia and  you might be asking just what exactly is a Mexigarian.

Well, it’s a person of Mexican-Hungarian-Native American-American descent.

Mexigarian for short,  as coined by my husband Eric. 😀

I’m twenty something years young, living in the Bay Area of sunny ol’ California.   I love writing, painting, drawing,  food, cooking, baking,  reading and being outdoors.

I work full time at my father’s engineering machine shop and spend my free time at my studio painting, spending time with family and friends or in the kitchen cooking up dishes.   As much as I love being active–whether it’s swimming, walking,  yoga, strength training, gardening, cleaning (ick!), hiking, kayaking, cycling (you get the idea)–I also enjoy curling up on the couch with my husband and cats and reading a good book, watching a fun movie or kicking his butt on our Wii.

Oh, and there has to be a glass of wine in there somewhere.

I started reading other food and fitness blogs and they helped me come to terms with myself in terms of lifestyle, health, fitness and other things.  I decided to start this blog in order to continue growing and loving myself as a healthy individual while exploring the delicious foods and cultures of my heritage and those beyond.

Here, I hope to share some recipes I have grown up with, others I’ve just learned and others for a healthy and active lifestyle.

I invite you to enjoy the ride of  la vida with me. 🙂

Thanks for checking out my blog. I’ve been to San Diego once but I was about 17. I would like to go again though and check out Stone Brewery. That is like #1 on my list. 🙂 I took a trip to Portland in 2009 and pretty much went to as many breweries as possible. Such a fun trip!
I agree, Yay for local bloggers!
Also, pretty funny, but I also work at my dad’s general engineering company full time. Another thing we have in common!

Hi, this Mexigarian thing is hilarious 🙂 (I just saw a comment of yours on a blog and since I’m Hungarian, I had to check out this funny Mexican-Hungarian girl ;)). Have a nice day! (Oh, and it’s sziasZtok, but nevermind, it still felt so good :))

Hi! I just found you from HungryRunner’s blog, and I’m Hungarian too! how neat! Do you speak any Hungarian? I’m currently living in the Cleveland area, where there’s a huge population of Hungarian-Americans, and so many great Hungarian restaurants, too. I almost have as many pets as you… two cats and a dog!

Hi! Nice to meet you. Unfortunately, I can’t speak Hungarian. I can understand it more than I can speak it, but do bust out Hungarian phrases when I’m stressed or such. lol. Here in the Bay Area there is a large Hungarian population, but hardly any resturants!! Really a shame because I love me some good Hungarian home cooking. I get my fix when we got to the picnics over the summer and look forward to them every year. I think I should add Clevland to my list of U.S. cities I’d like to visit 😉 What kind of dog do you have? Thank you for the comment!

Hi Sonia! I’m so glad you found me and had to stop by and say hi! I love the name of your blog and that your DNA is so well rounded. 🙂 I also see that you are in the Bay area which is awesome. Maybe one day we can organize a blogger meet up and meet in person. 🙂

Thank you for the comment! Hello to you to 🙂 I love finding fellow Bay Area bloggers! We should definitely do a blogger meet up. I have been wanting to do one for a while.
