Wow. I almost wrote 2012 up there. Can you believe it’s already the second week of 2013??? I still can’t. Seriously. Just this time last week I was going back to work and wishing for more vacation. Alas, reality sinks in and here we are.
Did everyone have a good first week of January? I think I did. I spent it planning out the rest of the year (ha!), setting goals (more on that in another post) and accomplishing some goals already. Woot. I also spent it eating as health as possible, save for Saturday’s pizza night watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. You just can’t watch a Turtle movie without the obligatory pizza! Michelangelo would shun you.
In spirit of WIAW, here is some of the most recent eats I have had in the new years (sans pizza):
Brussel sprouts with veggie patty and couscous.
Vegetarian Chili from TJ’s. Mac and Cheese. TJ’s cornbread (amazing. I subbed 1/2 apple sauce for the oil and gave it a slightly sweeter taste!) Green beans and carrots.
Egg scramble with tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms. . .
Collard wrap with orange slices. It was supposed to be turkey wrap, but I mistook ham for turkey
Gave the uneaten part to my dad.
Organic ground turkey on a bed of sautéed greens.
Tuna wrap with a slice of goat cheese. Hardboiled egg and grapes.
Eggs. Sprouted bread. Spinach with sautéed mushrooms and cashews.
Eggs, block of goat cheese, leftover greens and mushrooms and bread.
As you can tell, I eat a lot of eggs and greens
I also been pretty active. Whoo!
I went on a run New Years Day. And then did a 4.7 mile run around the neighborhood on Sunday with Lando.
I am exploring more of the area where I live. We ran by the cows and then looped back into a neighborhood. We started out fast and then ended up walking a lot. Whoops. And then we got lost. It was also rainy so by the time we got home, Lando and I were both soaked to the bone and we warmed up under the heated blanket (after drying off of course.)
I’m starting to train for my 3rd Half Marathon the Rock N Roll San Francisco in April. At this moment, April looks waaaaaaay to close for comfort. I have a 10k at the end of the month and I am already nervous about that.
My Groupon for my yoga studio expires at the end of the month and I found that I had 14 more classes to do. Soooo, I booked all my classes and now have 11 more classes to go. Once it’s up, I know I am going to be sad. I LOVE the atmosphere and the teachers at the studio. I just cannot afford a membership. Even the payment plan is a little much for me (right now).
So I opted to do a payment plan for the gym. There was a special deal happening and I renewed a membership with 24hr Fitness. I love classes and I can pick and choose a class depending on my mood and schedule. They also have yoga and I know which of the instructors I like so I can follow them around to the different locations. I am totally not a creeper. I just know who I like
I went to my first cycle class of the year:
Dare I say I look a little creepy? Kind of like Gollum.
It was at one of them Super super sports. One that costs more than the regular sport gyms. Ha. It was in a dark room with black lights and it was a little off putting at first. The bikes were different than what I was used to and I was so wiped out in the first 20 mins. But I hung in there and finished pretty strong.
Tonight I am going to paint in studio for a bit (working on two commissions! due at the end of the month) and then head to a late night yoga class.
Hope you are all having a lovely New Year!
Tell me. . .
-what are your goals for this month?
-have you started on any of your goals or challenges?
-any races lined up?

That’s so cool – I just had the same exact vegetarian chili from TJs the other day and it was delicious! I also had brussel sprouts last night. Seems like we eat a lot of the same things!
It is delicious. I have another can in the pantry and am thinking of heating it up very soon with all the cold weather we’ve been having. thanks for stopping by!
